Welcoming Committee

I arrived at Holly mid afternoon. It’s four and a half months since I last stayed here, and my world has turned upside down in the meantime. I’ve been looking forward to coming, but it feels bitter-sweet. J loved this place. She would have loved being greeted by Phil Pheasant.

Two problems became apparent by the end of the day. I started to get a sniffle - the first cold I’ve caught in over four years. And the fridge freezer isn’t working, it’s on and making all the right sounds but it’s not cooling. Kaput. Not the best of starts.
