Shades of the Night

It’s been a day of writing letters of condolence and then typing the order of service for the service of thanksgiving of our friend from church. 

This hellebore is the only one in the garden of this deep colour. There are a few white ones, called "Pretty Ellen White", but most are the usual Helleborus niger (lenten rose) and they’ve seeded themselves profusely all over the garden. 

 My cold is running its course, so good old Smithers is preparing a chicken curry as I write because I’ve got the evening droops!
