Primrose in the drizzle

Today it was dull and drizzly most of the time. However, I was keen to finish weeding my south facing border by the new fence so I spent some hours in the garden doing battle with the ivy, bindweed and bramble, after which I spread a lot of bags of compost from our compost bin as a mulch.  It was too dark to photograph by the time I had finished (6.30pm) so here is a photo I took earlier of one of the many primroses scattered over our "lawn" and borders. 
The tortoise very sensibly stayed in bed all day.
