Progress...

I have kept this broken Amaryllis bud under scrutiny since it was rescued but for several days it remained static, as if to reprimand me for allowing such a thing to happen.

Then I realised that the stem might be sealed over, as cut flowers are wont to do, so gave it a gentle scrape and some fresh water...and it began to develop.

So far, so good. But I shall be away for a few days and Miss Flum is charged with its upkeep, with instructions to send a photograph if it actually blooms (or at least shows some colour).

Meanwhile the buds on the actual plants are heading for the sky and I do hope to be home before they break or Miss Flum will have more photos to take or Blip on my behalf..
