Tuk Tuk

An Auto Rickshaw, or a kind of 3 wheeled Vespa scooter. This is the fastest way to get around Bangalore, as they are so incredibly manoeuvrable - albeit rather open to the natural smells and pollutants at ground level. They easily avoid the sedentary street cows, stray dogs and swarming motorbikes, cars, buses and pedestrians. It is the best way to do the 'Tourist stuff'.

This was my friendly driver today. He took me on a tour of the main parliament buildings and the law courts and then insisted we visit his 'brother' who runs a shop ! I was much poorer financially for the experience but much richer culturally!

Then back to the hotel. The actual tour was 'cheap as chips - or Nan breads perhaps'!

Off home soon. My little Bangalore Odyssey is coming to an end. It was a very good experience and has helped my understand Indian culture much better.

Himalayas next time perhaps :)

From Wikipedia - The Oracle...

Auto rickshaws are a common means of public transportation in many countries in the world. Also known as a three-wheeler, Samosa, tempo, tuk-tuk, trishaw, auto, rickshaw, autorick, bajaj, rick, tricycle, mototaxi, baby taxi or lapa in popular parlance, an auto rickshaw is a usually three-wheeled cabin cycle for private use and as a vehicle for hire. It is a motorized version of the traditional pulled rickshaw or cycle rickshaw. Auto rickshaws are an essential form of urban transport in many developing countries, and a form of novelty transport in many Eastern countries.
