March 21st is World Down Syndrome Day this year and a good friend in New Zealand posted on Facebook about wearing fun and different socks to express and encourage diversity. Perhaps it was a New Zealand-focussed idea, but I wore these new socks anyway, just recently bought in Madrid.

Our parents were foster parents for many years (I think that’s what they were called in those days - not sure if the same term is still used) and one of the children in their care was Paul, who was a child with Down syndrome. He definitely added richness to our family and we remember him fondly.
