On Some Days

Nothing But The Whole Wide World. . .

Glen Campbell

When we left Fairley under low cloud I thought we could be in  for a day of low visibility but once we had climbed to the top of Mt Nessing in the Hunter Hills on Ranui Station we were above the clouds. 1st extra. It was fantastic to see Mt Cook and the Southern Alps.  Left of main blip on the horizon.
Once up we had to wind down to our morning tea stop at a musters hut. It had an outside toilet minus a door but we managed. 2nd extra.
The next section  was bumpy until we turned onto the pylon road which was put in to service the transmission lines from the Benmore Dam.  This was a smooth dirt road. Lunch was beside the Haldon Arm of Lake Benmore which has a camping ground and had toilets with doors.
The drive over the Hakatarmea Pass is also on a good surface so a good run down to the small country town of Kurow.  Dinner was at the Sage Cafe and another excellent meal.  Eight of us are in a BnB on the Main street. We gathered in the lounge for a nightcap.  By 9 pm we are ready for bed, except the blipper still had to post.
Thanks for following along.  During the day there is no cellphone coverage but I catch up with your comments in the evening and appreciate them. I have added part of the poem on toilet wall.  168 kms
