Gymnasts
An early start for a Saturday, to catch a bus into Edinburgh, to then catch a train to Glasgow. Thankfully Strathclyde university is only a ten minute walk from the station and we found our destination without any trouble. BB signed in and we visited a few stalls, where he enquired about rugby at Strathclyde (getting is priorities sorted out already!). We then went to a talk about the University, followed by a chat with a representative from the Chemistry Department, which was very helpful. Next we went on a campus tour, which took in accommodation and the new sports centre – all very impressive.
Once we got back to our starting point it was time for lunch. We didn’t have much time, and there weren’t many options close by, so we ended up going to Greggs. Not my first choice, but any port in a storm. It was rather chilly out, so we went back to the building we had been in, where there were lots of seating areas, and enjoyed our lunch in a lovely modern and warm building. It seemed many people had had the same idea. Once lunch was done, we headed off to the Chemistry Department for a talk about their degree courses. It was all very interesting. Once that was done, we headed back to the station, caught the train back to Edinburgh, then the bus back home. We got home about 5pm, which gave me just enough time to get myself ready to head out to meet friends for a pre-dinner drink. BB invited himself along with us, not to drink, but to meet up with his friend, whose parents we were meeting. As ever the men folk drank too slowly and we were in danger of being late to meet the rest of our friends in the restaurant – but we made it just in time.
We had a really lovely evening. Unfortunately three of us ordered cod, only to be told they had run out. How very disappointing – alternatives were chosen and ordered.
We were home at a reasonable time. I was feeling very weary after my early start – so pretty much went straight to bed.
I think BB got a good impression of Strathclyde, but I don't know if wants to go there or not. We spotted this mural in Glasgow.
