Bog Drama/Frog Hunter

This Red-shouldered hawk is a frequent visitor to our yard. She often sits in the winged elm, on a limb overhanging the bog. From this vantage point she can observe the goings on of one of her favorite snacks...the pond frogs. I watched as she sat very quietly for almost 30 minutes until a large crow flew into the tree just above her. I guess the crow's arrival startled the frogs because the hawk immediately dove down to snatch up a small one. She flew with it to the top of the fence, quickly devoured it, then flew off.
