Waterfoot Sunrise

Tommy Jnr II

The garden is awash with adult birds and chicks just now all trying to get what they can from the feeders. I read somewhere that this is the next most important time next to winter to be putting out food for the birds. They are clearly ravenous and feed constantly from dawn until early evening on whatever is put out.

For both adults and chicks the half coconuts seem to do the trick, and have the added advantage of providing a bit of shelter on a wet and breezy day. Tommy Jnr certainly took a shine to this coconut and spent a fair bit of the day ensconced within it. Tommy himself was happy for jnr. to fend for himself while he tended to some of the smaller chicks.

Go LARGE and you will see our house reflected in the little chick's eye!
