Loch Awe

A birthday getaway!

And where else but Scotland? On this occasion we've come up to Loch Awe, which we've previously driven through on our way to Oban, but, to be honest, not really noticed. 

But then, a few months ago, I sent the Minx an Instagram post of the interior of St Conan's Kirk, and that's when we decided to visit. 

Even the motorway journey as far as Glasgow is scenic and enjoyable, and then you're going up past Loch Lomond and things get seriously beautiful.

We're staying at the Ben Cruachan Inn, on the side of the loch, where we enjoyed a couple of post-drive drinks in the bar before retiring to our cabin.
