Hot Fires

Today we went to an exhibition with the title Hot Fires. In Zutphen. All paintings with fires one way or another. Domestic fires,  fires used for traditional crafts and destructive fire. Domestic fire we saw in candles and hearths in home scenes, for traditional crafts in scenes with a blacksmith or a baker, destructive fire in sea battles.

All these paintings are on loan by the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. This exhibition is traveling along five local museums spread out over the Netherlands. Each local museum adds something to do with fire to the exhibition from their own collection.

In Zutphen we saw old buckets for firefighting,  a little silver lantern lighter and other items. They made a very nice addition to the exhibition.
