The Last Day of June
Summer has arrived
with colour and sizzlin' sun
while the river cools.

I was up before the sun this morning. It's my usual behaviour. As soon as there is some light in the sky, my brain wishes to be alert and working. The sunrise was a promising one. I was on the deck facing my favourite mountains with camera in hand. I always assume that my neighbours are still asleep and won't see me cavorting on the deck in my nightgown. My habits might have to change should my neighbours complain.
I photographed hollyhocks I had discovered on a downtown street. In front of an older home sandwiched between two commercial outlets, a fine crop of hollyhocks grace the front fence. I stood for sometime getting them in all angles. Then I noticed the owner sitting on the front porch having a smoke. I had to tell this older man how beautiful his flowers were. He seemed pleased.
Temperatures continued to rise after lunch so a drive along the river seemed like a good idea. We drove north on Westsyde Road to the McLure Ferry that crosses the North Thompson River. It only carries two vehicles maximum at one time so we had to wait. That allowed for a few more photos. The crossing connects to the Highway 3 (The Yellowhead Highway) so it made a circle route back home.
We reached a high of 93 degrees Farenheit/34 degrees Celcius today. We're going for higher tomorrow. My bedroom moves to the bottom floor of the house tonight......much cooler!
