Modigliani self portrait

This was the last day of class at Istituto Il David. We had four weeks of Italian four hours a day, five days a week. It was intensive, though some people added two hours in the afternoon. The month went quickly and we were sad saying goodbye to classmates and teachers. We now have lots to process about the experience and where life will take us next.

We wanted to visit a museum in the afternoon and chose Museo Novecento, which is a collection of modern art from Florence. The special exhibits were by artists whose work I did not like. I found three of the exhibits horrible. One of the permanent collections was a series of portraits that reminded me of a nightmare. Fortunately, there was one group of paintings that I enjoyed seeing, especially the Modigliani self portrait.
