Porty at Sunrise from the Royal Mile

Three sunny days in a row and Easter Sunday takes the biscuit!
The clocks went forward an hour during the night which made the forward planning for a swim at Porty before meeting the Merry Widows for our Sunday coffee at 10am of paramount importance but I managed it with a hour and a half to spare!

The sun was just about to rise when I left the house to walk down to Princes Street to catch the bus. The timetable definitely said on my iPad and at the bus stop that there was a bus at 7:07am but that was an early April Fool  because it was absent and the one that came was the next one at 7:14. No matter as it sped down the road very quickly and even the habitual change of driver at King’s Road didn’t use up too much time.

Porty beach look amazing with the sun low in the sky blazing over a very high tide and the sea like a mill pond in the windless morning. It was heaven to be in the water, floating , swimming and even practising a few water handstands with the sunshine in my eyes. I was reluctant to emerge but ‘tempus fugit’ as ever. The icing on the cake was throwing caution to the wind and hailing an Uber which arrived in 2 minutes and rushed me home through quiet roads so that I was back in the house by 8:30am, showered and de-sanded in time to meet the ladies for coffee and a long natter in the sun.
It has been a lovely Easter Sunday.
