Maggie’s Garden
It used to be very easy to get to the Western General by bus from the Dower House- too easy thought the powers that be behind Edinburgh transport and so they rerouted the #47 bus so that it longer travels down Drum Brae to the hospital. However I have the alternative of the #24 bus which will take me there with just a little bit more of a walk and it did, depositing me in good time for my 9:30 mammogram, the 3rd of 5 yearly post op ones.
I was all done and dusted really quickly, no consultant this time and so I was able to skip down to Maggie’s to say hello to the two counsellors that I know. I had my welcoming cup of coffee and gave them news of our Kitchen Table group that started on Zoom at the beginning of COVID but which now meets face to face every month in the Art College Café. It was such a beautiful morning, sunny, warm windless and the Maggie’s garden leading to the summerhouse house full of cherry blossom.
On the way home I stopped off in Princes Street to make not one but two purchases that I didn’t know I needed until they were in my basket- such is the way of the world. Buying on a whim is never a good idea, but we shall see, maybe it is my lucky day!
