A time for everything

Easter Sunday!

It was a beautiful blue sky, sunny Easter Sunday morning. Janet and John always leave early for church, since John is the organist, and Janet sings in the singing group. So we called Bernard before we left to see if he wanted to be picked up, but he said he wasn’t feeling up to it this morning, which was a shame. The church was pretty full, and it was a lovely meaningful service, with lots of singing. After the service, tea and coffee were offered as usual, but instead of biscuits/cookies, they had beautifully decorated Easter cupcakes. We then went back to check on Bernard and make him a coffee, and following that, went down the street to Janet and John’s to say goodbye to them, as they were leaving at about 1.30 for a weeks holiday in the Isle of Man, and we are staying on in their house, to watch over Bernard, as at 95, he is pretty dependent on Janet, his mobility being impaired by severe arthritis, and he was always fairly useless in the kitchen anyway!
By the time we got out for an afternoon outing it was almost mid afternoon, and unfortunately the clouds had moved in, but we knew Bernard would love to see all the Spring flowers, blossom and flowering shrubs at Dunham Massey that we had enjoyed yesterday afternoon, so we went back there. When we got back we took him back to his place to have a rest, while I fixed the three of us a roast lamb dinner. Since he hadn’t got to their Easter day service, we had hope to show him the recording from our church in the States, but unfortunately it wasn’t available on Utube yet, so instead we showed him our Palm Sunday service, which he really enjoyed, being able to see our church where we worship, and see our ministers. And he even managed to stay awake through it! ( he very easily falls asleep these days!)
