Concrete objectives

What. A. Day. Bestie @BikerBabe and I managed an early start and set off for a gentle 200-odd miles of cloud-covered pass in the Peak District, many motorway miles towards Doncaster and lots of A and B road riding to Hull and beyond.

Naturally we found time to visit another Lion Foundry bandstand, in Thorne, although I don't know the model. It was very neat and tidy with a tiled roof and a duck pond alongside. After a pitstop for fuel and in my case, pain meds (thanks, headache) we wound our merry way to the coast to see the wartime concrete sound mirror at Kilnsea, not far from Spurn Point. It's only a wee one but still a good 15 feet high and iis in really good condition.

From there we rode back to the shore next to the Humber bridge for cookies and photos and then launched ourselves southwards over the bridge and had an amazing view of the estuary. I was flagging by then but after some fun swooping roads for an hour, and an inexplicable encounter en route with Thunderbird 3 we made it to beautiful Woodhall Spa and our hotel for the night.
