Canal Walk: Day 1
That's our first day of canal-walking safely completed :-)
Started off early this morning, catching a train over from Edinburgh Haymarket to Glasgow Queen Street, then a line-switch at the same station and along to Bowling.
The snap is of 'Bowling Basin', which is a short distance from the train station. From here we basically stayed on the Forth & Clyde Canal-towpath, heading Eastwards. Weather been okay - intermittent light drizzle, and not in the slightest cold.
Had two short stops during the day; one at a cafe on the edge of Clydebank for a coffee&cake; then a 2nd stop a bit later to eat our packed-lunch at one of the many locks ... the Forth & Clyde Canal, unlike the Union Canal which we'll join on Thursday, is NOT a contour-canal ;-)
Just short of the flight of locks at Maryhill, we detoured off the canal and walked half-an-hour down the River Kelvin to where we are staying tonight : a small hotel just North of the Glasgow Botanic Gardens :-)
We'll head back up to the canal tomorrow morning, before heading Eastwards again to Kilsyth.
Around 11-miles in total today :-))
... & finally; just a brief reminder that we are primarily undertaking the expedition to raise money for EUCS - if you want to/can help, our JustGiving page is here:

Thank you :-)
