Riccarton...

……………………......….House & Bush

This dahlia, growing in the gardens at Riccarton House caught my eye as the late afternoon sunlight filtered through its petals.

This afternoon’s destination was a visit to Riccarton House, Bush and the small Deans Cottage.

First extra - Riccarton House. Building started in 1856 and completed in 1900, was the house of the Dean Family for 80 years.

Second extra - Riccarton Bush. The native floodplain forrest is the only remanent left on the Canterbury plains (NZ) Stands of towering Kahikatea trees up to 600 years old thrive in the bush.

Third extra - Deans Cottage. This cottage is the oldest building on the Canterbury Plains. Built in 1843 it was the home of the Dean family until 1856.

Sorry, I am getting behind again on Blip. I really do appreciate the visits, comments, stars and hearts. Thank you for your continued support.
