Shaun the sheep at Tatton Park
Thursday
The weather today was a bit brighter, and it looked as though we may be free of rain until late afternoon, so we had another attempt to visit Tatton Park, and this time we were successful - it remained dry, and we even had a few brief sunny intervals! We had a wonderful walk around, admiring the topiary, blossom, rhododendrons, the Japanese garden, and the magnificent trees. They had a special exhibition going on to mark lambing season, of sculptures of Shaun the sheep, scattered around the gardens. There were a lot of families there, seeing as it’s school holidays, and the children were eagerly looking for the next sheep so they could cross it off their map, and of course parents were taking their pictures with the sheep. The estate also has a deer park (we saw some of the deer as we drove in), and a working farm with rare breed animals and working machinery and demonstrations, though we didn’t get that far today, but there were signs saying they had newborn lambs down there, so it would be a fun day out for families with young children.
