Breathe in the Scent

of Freesia leichtlinii alba, a wild species from South Africa.  Smaller and less showy than the hybrids of commerce at around 20cm tall, it is one of the easiest species to grow.   Mine live in the greenhouse in winter, brought in only when there is hard frost forecast.  They are dormant in summer.

A second work day at Aber cafe.  Almost as busy as yesterday.  My feet ache tonight, I've grown unused to being on them for so long at a time.  Tea with Ruth, a quick trip to pottery to drop off some pieces for bisque firing - I arrived in the nick of time.  An early night ahead - by our standards at least!
