White Common Spotted Orchid
Amongst the thousands of Common Spotted Orchids flowering on the nature reserve this year, there is the occasional pure white variety with no spots on the leaves - Var. albiflora. Apparently it is "quite widespread, but rather uncommon" (Harrap). It is really striking. Also, we finally have some Pyramidal Orchids starting to flower - a week or so behind other local sites as Dancersend is that bit higher and more exposed. Fantastic orchid season!
