Leeming Bar Station opened in March 1848 and is currently one of the main stations on the Wensleydale Railway. The line has been under the control of a number of railway operators since then and has had a checkered history and only ran the full length between Northallerton and Garsdale for passengers between 1878 and 1954. 

Today the heritage railway has stations at Scruton, Leeming Bar, Bedale, Finghall Lane, Leyburn and Redmire but only run a service between Leeming Bar and Leyburn using their Pacer train (built in the 1980's). Last Friday Micheal Portillo featured the station and train on his Great British Railways series and described the Pacer train as a bus on 4 train wheels...
