Early Spider Orchid …
… in the rain in our village. People come from miles around to see these
Ophrys sphegodes, the Early Spider Orchid. The Late Spider Orchid (Ophrys fuciflora in extra) and Bee Orchid (Ophrys Apifera) have certain similarities. However, the Early Spider Orchid can be easily differentiated from all other orchid species by way of the markings at the centre of its lip, which are bluish to dark violet and often in the form of the letter "H". Can anyone tell me the difference between the other two? Google seems as confused as I am!
