Laocoon & His Sons

Once upon a time in the far distant past I used to know quite a lot about Greek and Roman mythology.  This statue dates from dates from between 29 and 19 BC.  I found the piece to be intensely moving, and for me was a highlight of the Vatican Museum.  Frankly, the Sistine chapel was an equally intense disappointment.
