For one day only
A while ago we picked up a booklet showing all the gardens that are opening up in our region this year under the Open Gardens Scheme. We saw there was one locally today so went along for a look. A lovely garden; covering about two and a half acres. It had been created over the last 60 years by the owners and was broken down into several different areas; a large lawn, a parterre, orchard, woodland and a pond area. Being an old farmhouse it backed onto fields so even once the garden finished there were lovely views over the surrounding area. Nothing formal about it, and in many ways all the better for it.
This is the house with the lawn area in front. We sneaked a peek in through the window and it looked exactly as you would expect from the elderly gardening owners; a bit shabby, everything old but comfortable and homely. The sort of place where you could easily relax and know the dogs would take priority!
