Commuter Belt

This station lies firmly in the commuter belt on the line between London and Reading. For roughly a year I would leave and arrive from this station heading for my office in the West End of London. Like many commuter stations when it is seen outside commuter travel times it looks quite deserted.

The photograph is slightly deceiving as in fact it is still time for many people to return from London, but the arrival of a train produces only a temporary brief surge in the number of people present in the station. With each train there is a similar surge in the number of people at the local fish and chip shop.
