parkrun Poznan
So excited for parkrun today.
parkrun Poznan was really great. We were treated like visiting celebrities by the team and we made some friends with other visiting tourists. The run was in a beautiful park with a convulated, undulating course which I was convinced that I would get lost on, especially as there were no marshals. But, no need to worry, flags and ample signs clearly showed the way. There were some inclines and a curious cobble stone section down a fairly steep decent, which needed care, but otherwise it was a good surface to run on.. Noteworthy sights included, beds of tulips, cherry blossom, M spotted a red squirel, tanks, fighter jets, war memorials and lots of trees with beautiful fresh green leaves.
We made some parkrun friends with fellow tourists and the team made us incredibly welcome, inviting us for a breakfast in a very good cafe post run. A lesson to us RDs about how to welcome tourists. If only we had a nearby cafe to use. It was quite a walk, but the food totally made up for it. I enjoyed an indulgent portion of pancake with raspberry sauce and fresh cream. Delicious.
Later we explored more of the city, having fun with some living goats, brass goats, balarina poses, and enjoyed ice cream, more beer from our local Kaiser Castle, before returning to the hotel to freshen up and change for dinner. The clock tower has a real significance to the locals, who all gather to see 2 goats emerge and do a head-butting display at noon and 3 pm daily. We joined in to watch, but found it a challenge to get excited. Nevertheless, it was interesting to join in with the spectacle, though with less reverence as we did not understand it's significance.
Then we met up with E and E for our evening meal. The food was good, I had a schnitzel, but , for some reason we were unable to move the tables together, so could not chat as usual. So we moved to an ice cream parlour for desert so we could join with everyone to chat. Another fab but tiring day .
