Thursday Madness

Thursday things start to happen in earnest. There are acts on in the circus fields and cabaret tents all day with bands on in some of the smaller venues and the Dance Village in the evening and night. It is now that the festival starts to be 24 hours a day. Amy and I had a proper festival breakfast of Shreddies with Baileys ( !) , start as you mean to go on eh. Ellie was much more sensible having milk and cheerios. They had both spent their dinner money last night on a furry hat with a dog face and a hippy dress respectively - as you do. I reminded them that I was the last one back to the tent and they are lightweights several times.

This picture is of one of the random 'street theatre' acts that pop up all over the festival while you are walking around.

The morning was lovely and sunny so we went to see the acts in the circus field and had brunch from the Parsnip Shack - ace vegetarian fayre.

Unfortunately in the afternoon it started to rain. We were two pairs of wellies short and my iPhone was already dead so we hopped in the car and drove to Shepton Mallet.

Still raining 2 hours later when we got back to tents - and 4 hours later when we were fed up of being in the tents.

Amy had the idea that we could sleep and then wake up at midnight as the forecast was better and we could explore 'Shangrila' and 'Block 9' areas. These are based on a post-apocalyptic world and there a re lots of different small places for dancing, bars , wierd exhibits, fire shows , silent disco, etc etc.

We did all wake up at 11.30 and went out. It's good to extend your comfort zones occasionally.

We had a great time and finished up in the STone Circle on the way back up the bloody great big hill. Lots of people congregate here around garden candles or small camp fires and look out over the festival site. We were going to wait for sunrise but it was 4 am and we were all the girls were exhausted.

Despite our tiredness it was hard to sleep. SOme poor chap ( or should I say some chap with an unfortunate wife) was snoring in the manner of a whoopee cushion. I had never heard anything quite so ridiculous coming from a neighbouring tent. I can fall asleep to thumping disco music but snoring - aaaargh
