Peering through the Plastic...

...reveals a man on his knees replacing the old hearth with wood. Why is the poor man working on the fireplace when it is 100 degrees outside? Because he can, I guess. At least it will be done when we can actually think about a fireplace.

It cools off nicely at night, which makes sleeping with our door open a perfect solution to the day's heat. Not sure what night creatures might want to visit us, we keep the screen closed! (Reminds me of the time in Berkeley when, during a rare heat wave, we opened our TV room window--no screens--bugs wouldn't dare enter Berkeley--and someone apparently crawled through it while we slept upstairs. Perhaps the dog disturbed them in the act, because nothing was taken. We might never have realized, except we found our little stepladder underneath the window outside.) I'd much prefer to worry about the odd raccoon coming to the bedroom door....

The man on his knees has gotten into his truck and driven off. I don't know if he's gone to lunch or gone home for the day. The only remaining question is this...where are we going to watch the Tour de France?
