St Marks

The foundation stone of St Mark’s Anglican Church was laid by Bishop Julius of Christchurch on 8 December 1892. The church was consecrated on 17 December 1893; at that time it was noted that the tower would be completed at a later date (1960). Built with bluestone & Oamaru stone, timber and slate.
The church was sold, in an ‘as is where is’ state, in 2016. It is kept tidy, but I don't know what was intended.  There was talk of a restaurant, but that would never work as too far out in the country.
Just 5 minutes drive, this charming rural church is part of a tiny country community. Way back in the day our three children went to Sunday School here.
I've put another view in extra. My Wide Wednesday entry.
