Afraid

I am afraid the bee may win this battle.. whilst the little blue tit is very brave launching an attack on this bee as it marches around the interior walls and nest the bee has the ultimate weapon.. a high pitched buzz which scares the bird away .. apparently they cannot tolerate the particular frequency. I feel very sad about the wee bird.. but this bombus hypnorum or Tree Bumble Bee is a relative new comer to this island.  It was first found in the UK (normally in Europe) in 2001 and is thriving in nest boxes more so than other native bumblers.
