The Pilgrims Route
We're exploring the island until the tide goes out this afternoon, and we can drive safely back to the mainland. Yesterday and today, there is a 6 hour safe window to drive across. The window is longer during neap tides, which is at the moment. The window for walking across is only 90 minutes; yesterdays walk had been carefully calculated .
To while away the morning, we circumnavigated the island ( about 10km) and walked past where we'd come ashore yesterday. You can see the poles leading into the sea. Certainly not safe to try it now. In the north corner of the island, we were expecting to find a lighthouse , but no, is some sort of navigation aid (extra ) - or a spaceship?
Our last hour was spent in the Heritage Centre learning about the Viking raids and the LIndisfarne Gospels. Then a 4 hour drive home.
Finally, I apologise for the pack of comments on your journals during this week away. Thank you to everyone who has come along with the trip , I hope you enjoyed it,
