Standing ovation
It’s Cambridge Literary Festival this weekend and last night I went to see/listen to the wonderful Caroline Lucas (the best PM we never had) discuss her new book Another England Is Possible with Melissa Benn.
That’s my extra as the other event was Armistead Maupin in discussion with Alex Clark. What a sharp, funny and naughty 80 year old he is! In his new book Mona Of The Manor he revisits some of the residents of Barbary Lane, San Francisco, but relocates them in England, where AM now lives. He was applauded in to the venue and had a standing ovation on the way out.
It was a truly joyous evening, listening to two amazing people and in the nicest company.
Two more events tonight.
