Meet the Newest Baby Bunzini!

My husband was standing looking out the front window with the binoculars, trying to identify a small creature that had just emerged from one of the brush piles at the edge of our woods. I told him it was probably just an over-sized vole, and in fact, he did see one of those.

But then somebody ELSE came out from under the wood pile, and guess who and what it was. Yes, it was the newest member of the Bunzini tribe! The Bunzinis are an ancient and respected clan of rabbits, of the eastern cottontail persuasion. They've probably lived here for hundreds of years. And this one is very, very small.

I ran for my camera - the bunny was far away enough that my hands weren't steady enough to get many decent shots, but I did get a few. Here is one of my better ones, in which you may see the new baby. It binkied (made little happy hops) around for a bit, and then ran back under the wood pile when a large truck went by on the road.

Our working name for this new little one is Little Binker Bunzini, but we're not set on that. Naming suggestions would be appreciated! Welcome, welcome, little one, to this big, bright, beautiful world!
