The Women…who served in Vietnam
Good to be back home after a tiring few days away.
Still very chilly so put the heating on for a boost!
I’ve just finished reading this book which is all about the US nurses who served in Vietnam. I had forgotten so much about the Vietnam war so it was interesting to read , although quite gory. A lot of the book was about the fact that there was very little recognition that women actually went to war and little support for returning veterans. The War Memorial in Washington was unveiled in 1982 to recognise the sacrifices. 58,000 names of men and 8 women. Such a large number of lives lost.
Coincidentally our son has been in Vietnam this week and will have visited some of the sites of various horrors which I’m sure he will tell us about.
