All over the place
We left the resort around 9am this morning for a trip to see the New River Gorge arch bridge and explore in that area. On the way we saw a sign for another place I knew about so we made a side trip...and ended up staying there for hours. The road went along Dunloup Creek which was just amazing!
Wildflowers (Holly was in heaven for sure!) and wild water. We found wild ginger blooms which are in the top row. Several small waterfalls along the road so we were able to pull off and walk the area. We spent hours here before we decided the day was getting away from us and we had only gone to one place!
We next traveled to the New River Gorge Visitor Center for a good map of the area, had a picnic lunch and drove down the one way road to go beneath the bridge. One of the guys at the visitor center told us about a place further downstream that was know for having lots of wildflowers.
So we made that ride, And walked. We found plenty of phlox, solomons seal, larkspur and a few that I had not seen before. This area was so green and peaceful.
Finally back at the lodge at 6:30ish to get some supper and download photos.
Tomorrow is another day of adventures with waterfalls and rivers on the itinerary.
