View From Tower Bridge
We all slept well... Kind of.. We were up by 6.30 am, and out quaffing Starbucks by 7.30. Then it was train to get Jeri to her start pen in time for the race.
We had a walk and another drink before finding somewhere near Tower Bridge to look out for her and cheer her on. This meant standing on a wall! Standing on the wall made my back ache, which I don't understand. It was as flat as the floor!
We saw Jeri run by, but she neither saw nor heard us yelling at her. After that we went to have lunch before going to see her go past again just before the end of the race. Same thing - we saw her, and she might have heard us if a bloke hadn't been blasting an air horn.
She did well and got a PB, which was her aim. Getting to the meet and greet area was a challenge, partly because we needed to be funnelled across the running route and mostly because there were thousands of us!
Eventually we found her and drank the prosecco I'd lugged around all day.
Then it was time to go catch the coach and this is where the fun started. Again there were loads of people, even more now than before, being funnelled via an intricate one way system.
We finally got through, and had to run for the coach. Every set of traffic lights stopped us, and long story short, we missed the coach by seconds. It drove past us as we swore at it and understandably, Jeri had a mini meltdown.
We ended up calling Brian to come and rescue us. We had another Starbucks then got the tube to Cockfosters, where Brian has just picked us up to go home.
I've included before and after pics of Jeri.
