Dolores Station - with glass and weathering
Today I played hooky and finished installing the "glass" in each of the windows. Somewhat arduous because I waited to install the glass until after the windows were in the wall and the weathering was done. I had thought I would airbrush the weathering, so did not want paint on the window glass. Then, after all the windows were in, I did a test strip of the wall shingles and found that airbrushing might make paint wick into the shingle edges - not good. Not at all the effect I wanted. So I chose to use Bragdon chalk. This is very fine colored chalk dust that has an adhesive in it so as you brush it on it sticks. Great product. A little hard to control but some old cosmetic sponges work to dull the effect.
So after doing the chalk I installed the glass from the inside on each window. Not easy but it is done now and glued in as well so they will stay put. I hope.
The blip does not look like much weathering but it is fairly heavy - I model 1949-50 and the station was pretty beat up by then. I downloaded many photos from the Denver Library and Fort Lewis College archives of the station taken in 1950 and they helped a lot to get the right amount of weathering.

Now on to the roof - maybe the most challenging project of the bunch.
