Getting our bearings
A late start after a good night's sleep and plans to have a lazy day. A squabble of ducklings greeted us from below the deck as a parent flew in to watch over them. After breakfast we perused the 'what to do' brochures and then headed out to get our bearings. There's a really nice, well stocked, little shop and a small gallery in the village, where we obtained useful advice.
It was bright and breezy after heavy overnight showers. The risk of more showers was forecast so we didn't intend to wander far. We followed a dog walker and a sign pointing to the beach a few hundred yards away, where we found these tractors, presumably used to drag boats and equipment up the steep shingle beach. Then we ambled along the coastal path and just kept going until we reached a bustling little town, some 3 miles away in time for lunch and some shopping for provisions, before returning to our home from home by the local bus. We carried a brolly but only had to use it once, briefly! Then a relaxing evening, indulging in fillet steak and apple pie for dinner.
