In the village
Although it was the usual grey sky this morning things brightened up this pm and I walked down to the village in search of a blip. The cherry blossom is almost over. This is the United Reformed Church. Our girls used to go to Sunday school there - although we are not religious we thought they should know what it was about.
Mr C has been planting and just as we sat down to have our first cup of tea outside this year, I saw a message on the local Facebook page saying the beautiful old willow at Armstrong Cottages had been cut down as it was dead and if anyone wanted logs to go tonight. He has done down to see if we can get any into the car. Free logs would be great as our last lot were £145, up from £100 last year and £45 the previous one.
Chloe and Graham phoned to see if we minded picking them up in Newcastle when they next visit, instead of the nearer Alnmouth station, as coming on there was going to cost £100 more from London. It’s under 30 miles which seems crazy. Of course we’ll drive down for them.
