James with the football trophy
We had Duncan and Grace in for a breakfast of scrambled eggs and smoked salmon. Duncan fancied a walk on the moor before driving home so we took him round the moor. I felt a bit mean not staying to keep Grace company but I really needed the walk and couldn’t take another couple of hours of inane chitchat. The three of us really enjoyed the walk as the path was beginning to dry out so we didn’t have to do long detours through the heather. An added bonus was seeing an adder - Duncan had to suddenly leap to the side but it had slithered into the bracken before I could get my phone out.
After a snack and a coffee they left and Mr C had a wee nap to recover. I settled down to get on with the knitting.
This isn’t my photo but for the purposes of my journal I wanted to include it. All of the Whitley Bay team got their photos taken with the shield for the Outstanding Team despite being second in points to West Denton. #2 daughter hadn’t been looking forward to the event last night as it was expected that the aggressive dads’ team would be gloating winners. But Outstanding was for more than wins to encourage good discipline, sportsmanship and behaviour. So well done them - and their coach and parents. I’m really happy for James who loves the game and only started this season.
