Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

Back home!

Back home, after a seven hour trip. Much of it in the shambles that is Edinburgh International Airport...

Several planes arrived at the same time, so there were 100s, nay - 1000s of people walking down steps, along long corridors, meeting crowds coming from other corridors, and down into passport control, which is a huge area. And it was full of people obediently shuffling along from one side of the hall to the other as we wended our way to be shouted at by a grumpy person: 1! 9! 7! As if we didn't know the significance of the red and green lights on the automatic passport checker.

If we thought that was the worst of it over, we were wrong. Baggage collection was WORSE. There seemed to be only two luggage belts working, but our one had two or three plane loads before ours! But nobody was lifting the cases going round and round from Nice or somewhere… could it be that those passengers were still in passport control, but their baggage collectors were just too efficient. We waited and waited and waited. SOOOOO inefficient. And yes, I will be sharing my feedback with the airport manager.

It was a shame our holiday ended like that. We had such a fabulous time. Seville is wonderful, and we feel we know it quite well now, though still lots of areas to explore, restaurants to try, roof top bars to find... Thanks to our tour leader Hazel for all her hard work.

Archie has been fine with Maggie for company. I took him for a walk round the Links. JR went straight to bed - she has a cold coming on and felt rotten.

Archie liked this cap, but we left it for the owner to find again, I'm sure they're sad to have lost it.
