Very gneiss

Lots of talking and traipsing around today with some donors. I always enjoy the landscape in and around Masasi, which is similar to the landscape of northern Mozambique. Masasi is within an ‘inselberg field’, an area dotted with clusters of huge rock formations. Substrate hard to confirm, but it’s possibly gneiss. I’ve said it before but if I was unfortunate enough to be posted to the backwater of Masasi (although I think the danger of this has passed) I’d find the most enjoyable weekend activity to be clambering all over these inselbergs.

The night is being spent in the rough and ready town of Tunduru, complete with very loud music at an uncomfortably close proximity.
