Woke up to sunshine at 06.00 looking out across a mill pond Bantry Bay . Bliss, then the gas ran out , no tea . Very shocking !! Headed into Castletownbere and bought coffee - too early for camping gaz purchasing .
Caught the special park run ferry over to Bere Island with hordes of other runners and a few locals, hopped into the provided ancient mini buses ( held together with duct tape -) and were whisked at great speed by the local GP to the starting line at other end of the island 10 mins away. Great vibes, very friendly and the volunteers told us its voted the most scenic parkrun in the world . It was stunning. 73 people ran , I came 33rd and then ate my body weight in home made cake and coffee before we were taken back having made lots of new friends .
Followed the GP’s advice and took camper to Sand Mount for a spot of lunch. Stayed hours , only saw a few people but everyone was chatty and so we chatted , dog happy in and out of sea .
Late afternoon tea with Tom , basked in their beautiful garden. Made it into Ballydehob for some of the jazz festival , meet up with Lisa . Back to T&Rs for chat, night time teas and warming up . Lovely lovely day. Happy anniversary Hubs x
