Day One in Kos
Today we had our first day on a beautiful Greek island. The flight was fairly good & a stunning sunset accompanied our journey & could be glimpsed from the airplane windows. We also had a somewhat bumpy landing , which wasn't particularly welcome & I was quite relieved when we finally came to a complete stop.
Once we'd got to our hotel via our coach transfer, everything was dark & we were lead to our room. It was very late so we hit our beds in preparation for a big breakfast & the beginning of the rest of our summer holiday...
After some much needed sleep & sustenance at breakfast, we pretty much chilled the rest of the day, swimming, sunning & reading. We had our welcome talk with Liam, who in the nicest way possible, seemed like a character from Little Britain, he was sort of a caricature of himself, & was very nice. I went down the short walk towards the beach & along toward Kos town, to the few shops close by to get some provisions, water mainly!
Speaking of water, this was the scene toward the end of the day across one of the hotel's swimming pools - it really did look as picturesque as this & I love the reflection of the umbrellas.
We roamed the well equipped & lovely Hotel Platinista throughout our day, & in the evening, post swordfish dinner (and the rest!) a Fakeir Show was laid on. This included fire eating & flailing, & belly dancing, & between you & me, when the announcements were made for the show, fakeir sounded a lot more like a two word English expletive that I'm sure your vivid & creative imagination won't struggle to guess. They just kept saying it, much to our amusement (I think we were the only ones giggling away!). It was very entertaining nonetheless.
A wonderful first day in Kos.
