Isle of Arran - One Fine Day/Bus Stop!
Well, that was a long but lovely day!
Oh, I didn't wear my new white lacy Laura Ashley blouse after all. It was kind of a grey start to the day and I felt I looked a bit like a lamp that you would stand in the corner of the living room so I got changed (again) and just arrived in time for my 5:40 train from Ayr. The heavens had opened by the time I reached Ardrossan Harbour for the 7am boat to Arran.
It was great to get to Arran at 8 with the day stretching ahead and the promise of brighter weather to come. Nothing much was open at that time but it was nice to wander in the rain watching the boats go out and things start to wake up slowly. I was ready for my egg and bacon roll at 9am when the cafe near the harbour was open!
I won't waffle on about the whole day. You'd need to be there really. It took me long enough to decide what picture to use but I have to say, I'd definitely like to get a bus to work from this marvellous bus stop - I didn't know the people in the shelter - at Blackwaterfoot. It was just over an hour around the south side of Arran from the bus station at Brodick to get there being bounced all over the place on the back seat flying around the sharp bends for a lovely walk to the shore where a gannet posed for pictures by the water's edge. Well, he had something the matter with his wing so wasn't going to fly off. It was windy but exhilarating and the sun came out to warm everywhere up and the water glittered.
It was another bus back going a different way covering the north side of the island, even bouncier than the first one which returned to Brodick but it's definitely more fun sitting at the back where you struggle to keep your seat at times! People got on at the Arran Distillery clutching their purchases.
My stomach was going around like a washing machine on fast spin when I got off so it was a very light snack before getting the boat back at 7 something. Good job I'd bumped into Mark (youngie66) on the way to Arran to keep an eye on the time of the last boat going back to Ardrossan! I have no idea what the time was but to say the day flew was an understatement and I forgot to get post cards. Oh well... no one can read my writing anyway!

Track? This was a bit difficult but I have decided on a band named after a different island entirely, Lindisfarne with a cracking track too seldom heard - Lady Eleanor
