In Need of TLC
I seem to have been very lucky with the weather during this last fortnight. Any rain (and of course it has just started raining as I penned these words!) have been late in the day or overnight.
Today was a beautiful day- calm, warm and sunny. It feels strange to have no wind and even now at 4pm when the weather is closing in, everything is so still and the sea is like a mill pond.
It was a bit more agitated when we swam at 9am. It felt like having a long lie being at that time, but there were a lot of Selkies who prefer a slightly later immersion.
I had an outside coffee at Julia’s , a chat with Elaine in the wool shop who is friendly with the blipper Tryfan46 up in Stromness at the moment and afterwards a stint in the library before coming home to sit in the garden with one of the Selkies. She brought me a lottery ticket and a big fat doughnut. I have never bought a lottery ticket before so I’m not sure how I will claim my winnings, (preferably thousands since NS&I seem to have my bonds languishing in the doldrums), but I certainly know what to do with the doughnut. So naughty but so nice!
Another Selkie is popping in after tea but we won’t be sitting in the garden but might be looking out the window at the rain and the swirling seabirds coming in to settle on the old disused pier over the sea wall.
