A Swan in Western Harbour
For a swan, this must be the equivalent of a sink estate in some rundown area, so I felt quite sorry for him as he searched for something to eat beneath the mucky water in Western Harbour. With no wife, cygnets or pals following him, he had obviously fallen on lonely hard times.
I blipped him with eyes half blinded by the drops opticians put in before an eye test and which don't let you react to bright light for about 2 hours.
It was the first time ever that I wished it wasn't sunny so that I could see more than just vague outlines in the distance.
His Lordship and I had journeyed to a superstore at the shore end of the bumpy no 10 bus route in order to have eye tests and order glasses- glasses which we were told were the cheapest in town. I ordered two pairs of bifocals at a cost of £157 which I suspect is quite a bargain, especially since they also manage to look quite trendy.
With eyes still refusing to cope with sunlight, I was glad to have suggested going by bus and not the car, even though we were forced to see parts of the city we would have preferred not to have seen.
Edit: this is NOT a swan blip, for those concerned about such things!
